Corporate photography for lawyers

I have been shooting corporate photos for about 12 years. I have learned some tips to make the process go smoothly:
  • Lawyers are busy (time is money) so I work fast and try to do individual head shots in around 15 minutes per person. I set up fast and shoot fast. I also edit very quickly and have the images to my clients within 24 hours. I then retouch the picks and email them in an ideal format.
  • Image is very important so I shoot in a way that is not cheesy or cliched. I try to show the personality of the subject (and the persona they want to project!)
  • The end-viewer needs to be thought about first. If the lawyer or businessperson serves the affluent attention needs to be paid to dress, background and overall feel.
  • I often bring backdrops but the law firms provide excellent areas for environmental backgrounds
  • I have a large amount of legal clients and always try to do something different for each. Some of my clients include SYCR, , Ryley Carlock & Applewhite, Dorsey and Whitney, and  Callahan and Blaine and Ross Wersching & Manisco LLP among many others local and nationally.

Corporate head shots for lawyers in the OC

I take a lot of corporate head shots... Orange County is a huge business area and I have always been able to understand CEOs, executives and Doctors and Lawyers have better things to do with their time than spend hours getting photographs taken.
That being said here is a great review a lawyer Eric put on Yelp for me:

"I couldn't be more impressed with Wallis Photo. Because our law firm needed photographs for our website, I conducted some research on local photographers and interviewed a number of them. During that interview I was impressed by Jason's knowledge of our business, the questions he asked regarding the appearance we wanted to give to our clients and his willingness to accommodate the schedule of my colleagues. The photo session was conducted with a consciousness to getting us in and out of the session, while at the same time managing to get "the right shot" of each person. Indeed, many have commented on how they never have had such a good picture taken. Jason and Wallis Photo come with my highest recommendation.

How to organize a corporate photo shoot in Los Angeles or Orange County

I just got back from an Accountant and Auditor corporate shoot in Los Angeles that ran from 7.30am-5pm.
I always bring all my lighting gear with me and then set up in an available conference room. Executives come every 15 mins to have their head shots taken. Sometimes every 10 mins if there are a lot. I'll get their names and then download and rename all the files as I go.
I was able to leave a low resolution cd behind when I left for the client to make picks from.
The best way is for clients to organize a sign-up sheet and then give it to the photographer. If someone does not turn up then I will follow-up with a secretary.
Sometimes I'll bring a backdrop but often I'll simply use a window as my backdrop or if the surroundings are aesthetic I'll use that.
After the shoot I have the clients choose the favorite shots which are retouched and emailed back to them as soon as possible.

Corporate photo shoot in Arizona

A couple times a year I fly to Arizona and photograph for a law firm RC&A.
They have expanded to Denver and I will be there next month.

If you would like me to come out and photograph in your state or city I have a simple way: The job fee is normal + you pay my expenses.
I don't mark up expenses. I use Southwest and Collaborative Consumption partners such as @WhipCar and @airbnb along with Southwest Airlines. This will keep my expenses WAY down.

Corporate headshots in Orange County

When I was in Napa photographing a wedding I got a call from a multinational company based in Michigan. They were out in California and needed headshots. We did the deal over the phone and took care of payments with Paypal (which I love).

I came to the hotel they were meeting at and set up the backdrop they requested. The photos were done over lunch break.

This is the problem with being a photographer:

Orange County Superior Court Judge Peter J. Polos, 45, joined prominent plaintiff’s firm Panish Shea & Boyle LLP in an “Of Counsel” role following his retirement from the bench on February 19, 2010... Think about that: Peter (on the right and left edges) is only 45 and he's RETIRED as a judge! Wow, way to make me feel like an under-achiever.
See this is the problem with being a photographer: no one wants you to photograph unsuccessful people! You have to be pretty secure to do this!
A large portion of my work is photographing corporate headshots and profiles for successful businesspeople in Orange County and LA. Obviously I feature beautiful models and sexy ads on my website... that's why people look at it! However, corporate photography has always been one of my strong points.
Please feel free to leave a comment on my blog and share the post with your friends if you enjoy it.

Brian Tracy photo shoot by Wallis Photo LLC

I won't lie: I was more nervous to photograph Brian Tracy than I was to photograph a supermodel! His books and audio cassettes have helped my business immeasurably.
I would recommend any of Brian Tracy's books.
Great guy!  Quiet and thoughtful.
One of the things I love about living in America is you have opportunities to meet these amazing successful people!
